Product questions

How to play a Crime-Trail?

The Crime-Trails are designed for people 12 years and older and are a great group experience and team event with friends, acquaintances and/or work colleagues. Some puzzle solving experience is helpful, but not mandatory. We recommend group sizes of max. 5 persons, therefore one ticket is valid for max. 5 persons. If there are more participants, please order accordingly more crime tracts, so that you can also play against each other. After buying a crime trail you will receive the crime file of the corresponding trail with the description of the case, the evidence already found, the assignment as well as some crime suspects and a situation map with the living, working and leisure places of the crime suspects.

Afterwards, you visit the crime scene and, in a sequence that you determine yourself, the places where the possible perpetrators live, work and spend their free time. At these locations you answer engaging riddles and receive further clues – either by SMS or in chat. By matching evidence to the appropriate people, you can exclude suspects or find the perpetrator and successfully solve the case.

Once you have solved the case, you can enter the name of the perpetrator on the website https://www.krimi-trails.de/arrest-warrant To do so, you will need the warrant code that you received in the order confirmation after the purchase. As soon as you have entered the warrant code and the name of the alleged perpetrator on our website, you will find out whether you were on the right person’s trail and successfully solved the crime case.

What do I need to participate in a Crime-Trail?

  1. A fully charged cell phone with internet access and QR code scanning function. You communicate via chat or SMS to get more clues.
  2. The crime file, a writing pen for notes, a pad/clipboard as a writing surface, headphones and possibly a power bank.
  3. The warrant code that you received by e-mail with the order confirmation, to convict the perpetrator.

Will there be a guide or game leader accompanying the Crime-Trail?

As the Crime-Trails are conducted independently, there is no guide or game leader to accompany you. Everything you need to know is available on the crime file.

What age are the crime trails suitable for?

The Crime-Trails are designed for people 12 years and older and are a great group experience and team event with friends, acquaintances and/or work colleagues. Some puzzle solving experience is helpful, but not mandatory. For families with younger children, we recommend the Krimi-Trails Kids or our Detective Trails, the puzzle tours with Detective Badger. May the Crime-Trails be played against each other?

If the crime trail is completed as a group competition against each other, one person will be in charge of the game. The groups competing against each other (max. 5 people per group) all meet at the crime scene at an agreed time. Only there the groups receive the crime file of the corresponding criminal case by the game leader (all receive the same case). The game leader has to purchase a crime file for each group in advance, so that they all have their own warrant code. The groups then read into the case independently and begin to solve the criminal case. In doing so, the groups can decide the order in which the possible perpetrators’ homes, workplaces, and recreational areas are to be visited; as a result, the groups will also be fairly spread out. The groups are only asked to return to the game leader at the crime scene after solving the case. Only there will the alleged perpetrator be convicted with the arrest warrant code. If the solution is correct, the time is stopped for the group. If the solution is wrong, the group is automatically in last place. The group that found the correct culprit in the shortest time wins. For more information about the game in large groups also look here: https://www.krimi-trails.de/gruppen/
